This is Owen.
He was born Saturday evening in Georgia and is undergoing at least one major heart surgery today to repair several defects. I don’t, by any means, think my blog reaches even hundreds of people, but if you see this today, please think of my friends Allison and Brian as they wait to hear the results of Owen’s surgery. I’ve only been a mother for three months, but I know Allison’s heart is breaking for her new baby boy and I cannot imagine the pain, fear, and worry she and Brian must be feeling. If you are so inclined, please pray that they will feel peace instead, and please pray that baby Owen will soar through his surgery and be resolved of his heart defects.
Edit // Updates on Owen will be posted here: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/owenthomasparker/journal
Edit // An update from Allison on the catheterization procedure: Owen tolerated his heart catheterization procedure well. His case was one of the worst they’ve ever seen. They were able to bring the pressure difference in his heart down from 200 to 20 (it should be 0) by opening the valve, but it resulted in moderate to severe leakage of blood flow back through the valve. We probably won’t know how the leakage affects him for another week. He will most likely have a heart surgery before he is able to leave the hospital, but we are hoping to avoid open heart surgery. We just saw him and he’s as handsome as ever. Our little fighter. God is good, and we are thankful. Thank you for your continued prayers and support. We are so blessed.
